THIS IS ME

I’ve worn many hats - writer, editor, creative producer, podcaster - but in the end to me, it's about telling stories. I started off as a journalist in my native LA - but I’ve practiced this craft in other global cities around the world - traveling and sometimes staying put for a spell.

My work has been published through the likes of Condé Nast, Tribune, News Corp, Playboy Enterprises, Warner Media, NBC Universal, etc. And in the travel sphere, up in the air, via Delta and United Airlines, British Airways and KLM publications.

Mid-career, I made a surprise pivot. I got a law degree - which rewired my brain for a minute… and led me to commercial clients in branded content, business writing and corporate thought leadership. While these opportunities didn't result in unadulterated 'creative work' per se, they've allowed me to understand the inner workings of governments, businesses and the global world order, to flex my intellectual muscle and earn a good living, for which I'm grateful (and they will live on through LinkedIn).

I’ve been at it and covered a lot of ground through the years. So I decided to retool this site (est. 2002) to focus on my personal greatest hits: stories I loved telling - my faves being ones where I entered a scene and let the subject matter engulf me. Which is how I’ve lived my life.

I’ve also conducted a ton of interviews with well-known musicians, artists, filmmakers, photographers, actors, business people, government leaders and lesser-known fringe eccentrics (the best for last). I’m proud of my 1-to-1s with these folks - who all brought something unique to the table. Many of those interviews felt effortless and natural, like a good spontaneous conversation, over a strong cup of coffee.

I never strayed too far from my creative passions - whether expressing myself through videos, blogs, music, magazine features, audio storytelling, or more recently poetry and painting.

I don’t believe you have to publish everything and live your life online to have a life. I value my privacy and creative intimacy. But expression, and mutually agreed collaboration are a core part of the human experience so on this site I’ll share (not everything) but some things that shed light on the way I think, feel and experience life.

However, the beauty of being human is that even through such artifacts, you can never truly know a person until you’ve spent time with them, face-to-face, eye-to-eye in the real world. And even then, there's always a little something left unsaid.. a mystery.
