POP CULTURE AND TRAVEL WRITING/ EDITING

Throughout her career Shana Ting Lipton has tackled au-courant and culturally relevant subjects such as Dutch prisons, eco-indulgence, HIV relationships, transgenic architecture, culture-jamming, wi-fi culture, the science of love, spirituality addicts, professional party crashers, etc. for a host of on + offline publications and multimedia outlets around the globe.

 
She is a blogger for The Huffington Post and contributor to the Los Angeles Times magazine. She was editor of The Blackbook Guide to Los Angeles 2008, and wrote and edited a weekly LA nightlife and culture segment for KTLA news with The Los Angeles Times online through late 2007. She has taught media related classes, including a seminar on pop culture for Media Bistro.

 
During her four years in Amsterdam through 2002 she contributed Europe-wide city travel writing to various publications. She also reported on the Dutch design scene and launched and spearheaded iN2, a magazine about creatives.

 
Throughout her career, she has interviewed such high profile individuals as political comedian Bill Maher, global captain of industry Richard Branson, actors Dennis Quaid and Naomi Watts, legendary environmental artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude, pioneering environmental scientist James Lovelock, musicians Matisyahu, Duran Duran, and Bryan Ferry, artist Jeff Koons, author Anthony Haden-Guest, U.N. Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, and entrepreneur and philanthropist George Soros.

In 2008 she launched the blog Hindi Hollywood - the news nexus of the Hollywood/Mumbai film world


EDUCATION
Shana Ting Lipton received her MA in European Cultural Studies (cum laude) from the University of Amsterdam. Her thesis work covered film, fashion and archetypes of French womanhood. She received her BA from Barnard College, Columbia University in New York.
